카토스 지바오 마타이 주한 시에라리온 대사는 이틀간의 방문 기간 동안 한국의 호남대학교와 교육 교류 프로그램, 교육 및 고등 교육 기관 간 협력, 고급 교육 및 연구를 통해 양국 간 우호 협력을 강화하기 위한 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했으며, 이 모든 것이 시에라리온 내 한국 기업의 진출 확대를 위한 것이라고 덧붙였습니다.

카토스 지바오 마타이 대사는 공주대학교가 주최한 외국인 유학생 오리엔테이션에 참석하였습니다. 국립공주대학교는 1948년 공주사범대학으로 출발하여 1991년 충청남도 유일의 국립종합대학교가 되었습니다. 현재 국내 국-공립대학 중 9번째로 큰 규모를 자랑합니다.

마타이 대사는 학생, 교직원, 주민이 주도하는 기술 창업 확대를 통해 국가 및 지역 일자리 창출의 기반을 마련하는 사회문제 해결 연구 프로젝트를 수행하는 대학인 군장대학교를 방문했습니다.[H.E. 마타이 대사에 따르면, 시에라리온 정부는 줄리어스 마다 비오 대통령의 지도 아래, 농업을 풍요로운 시에라리온 건설을 위한 5대 핵심 과제의 최우선 순위에 두고 있다고 합니다.

"마타이 대사는 '시에라리온에 식량을'은 그 대표 슬로건으로, 식량 수입 의존도를 최소화하고 수출을 늘리며 일자리를 창출하고 경제 성장을 촉진하며 빈곤을 줄이기 위해 주식 생산을 늘리는 야심 찬 프로그램" 이라고 덧붙였습니다.
