Ghana’s Ambassador-Designate to South Korea, Mr. Kojo Choi, on Tuesday, 21st October 2025, paid a courtesy visit to Ambassador Paul Sobba Massaquoi, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to South Korea, at the Sierra Leone Embassy in Seoul.

Ambassador Massaquoi congratulated his Ghanaian counterpart on his new appointment and underscored the importance of strengthening ties between the two West African nations. He highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral trade and cooperation through their shared membership in ECOWAS and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Ghana’s exports to Sierra Leone, valued at $23.1 million in 2023, have continued to grow, while Sierra Leone’s exports to Ghana—mainly palm oil, soap, and frozen fish—totaled $3.36 million. Both countries recently agreed to revive a 2018 General Cooperation Agreement to boost trade and technical collaboration.

In Seoul, the two ambassadors discussed plans to promote joint initiatives such as investment forums, cultural exchanges, and education partnerships, and to collaborate more closely under the African Group of Ambassadors to advance shared African interests in South Korea.

Ambassador Choi thanked Ambassador Massaquoi and his team for their warm reception and pledged Ghana’s continued commitment to deepening relations with Sierra Leone
