Ambassador Kathos Mattai participates in The 2019 Global Saemaul Leadership forum, at Ramada Plaza, Suwon, Republic of Korea, on Monday, October 28th 2019.

The philosophy of “Saemaul Undong” is a mind changing and self-help community development ideology that emanated from the people of the Republic of Korea since 1970.  An ideology that embraces self-determination, collective efforts, coordination and collaboration for modernization of new villages to attain sustainable development and quality life. A movement that indeed helped the South Koreans to overcome the downsides of poverty and to now be among the first 11th developed countries globally.

Ambassador Kathos Mattai reiterates that Saemaul Undong needs to be under-studied by countries striving to attain sustainable development goals especially sub-Sahara African countries. Ambassador Kathos Mattai is looking forward to introduce Saemaul Undong into Sierra Leone community by strengthening people to people relation between the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Republic of Korea.
